Strongsville Rotary Happy About Snow as Chili Open Approaches

Annual event promises a good time for both golfers and spectators

The Strongsville Rotary is hoping for some snow in the forecast this week -- after all, winter golf is more fun with a few inches on the ground.

The 20th annual B’laster Chili Open Golf Classic is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Berea. The charity event, featuring winter golf, prize raffles and a celebrity auction, is sponsored by the Blaster Chemical Co., presented by Chemical Solvents, and hosted and organized by the Rotary Club of Strongsville.

During its first 19 years, the Chili Open has netted almost $1.3 million for local charities and Rotary projects at home and around the world.

You don’t have to golf to have a B’last at the Chili Open.

The event features  winter golf on two blustery nine-hole courses set up at the fairgrounds. Inside, golfers warm up to an endless buffet of all you can eat and drink, including hot Wendy’s chili. A high-intensity celebrity auction, featuring some of Greater Cleveland’s favorite media personalities, runs throughout the day, and 50/50 raffles are held hourly. Also planned is a grand prize raffle drawing featuring a dugout loge for 12 people at a Cleveland Indians game and other prizes.
