Chili Open is Feb. 23 at Fairgrounds

Strongsville Rotary's annual charity fundraiser includes golf, food, an auction and prizes

  The 22nd Annual B'laster Chili Open Golf Classic is set for Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds.  The all-volunteer event has become a February tradition in northeast Ohio, drawing nearly 1,000 golfers who tee off into blasts of frigid air, putt across frosty greens and warm up in a hall full of hot food and sizzling activities, like the celebrity auction. Strongsville Rotary event is a huge fundraiser -- and lots of fun

The 21st annual B'laster Chili Open Golf Classic is set for Feb. 25 at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds. The event runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes a frosty round of golf, food, raffles and a celebrity auction. Organized by the Rotary Club of Strongsville, the Chili Open has raised more than $2 million for charity since 1992. Strongsville Rotary Donates $36,000 to Charities

A record-breaking year for Annual Chili Open

The Strongsville Rotary has donated $36,000 in proceeds from the 20th annual B'laster Chili Open Golf Classic to 12 charities. Each receives $3,000. The 12 charities, selected from 45 applicants, are: Berea Children's Home, Central American Medical Outreach, City Mission/Laura's Home, Cleveland Scholarship Programs (Malone Scholarship Fund, Easter Seals, Greater Cleveland Youth Challenge, Hanson House, Lighthouse Inc., Malachi House, Ronald McDonald House, Rose-Mary Center and the Strongsville Education Foundation. The golf classic grossed $140,000 -- the most in its 20-year history, according to event chairman Dave Riehl. Chili Open is a Blast for Winter Golfers

Hundreds gather at Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds for Strongsville Rotary event

A snowy Saturday was just what the weatherman ordered for the 20th Annual B'laster Chili Open at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds. Hundreds of people packed the fairgrounds, some braving the cold for a round of winter golf and others gathering inside for chili, refreshments and prizes. The event is a major fundraiser for Strongsville Rotary, which donates the proceeds to local charities. Look for lots more photos on Strongsville Patch on Thursday in our weekly Viewfinder feature.

The 20th annual B’laster Chili Open Golf Classic is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Berea. The charity event, featuring winter golf, prize raffles and a celebrity auction, is sponsored by the Blaster Chemical Co., presented by Chemical Solvents, and hosted and organized by the Rotary Club of Strongsville.
