School Board Member Running for City Council

Ruth Brickley will run 'an unfunded campaign' for at-large seat

  School Board member Ruth Brickley said she will seek election to Strongsville City Council this year. Brickley, who is in the second year of her third term on the school board, said she has been interested in running for council for some time and believes now is a good time to make the jump. "We've come to a point (in the school district) where we're in better shape than we've been," she said. "We have good leadership, and the bond issue passed." The three at-large City Council seats are up for election this year. Brickley will face her former colleague on the school board in the race. Meet the Candidates

11 Republican hopefuls vie for City Council seats

The spotlight shone on 11 candidates running for City Council during the Strongsville Republican Club’s Candidates Night on Monday evening. The candidates, all of whom are Republican, are hoping to secure a spot on the ballot this November by being one of the top two vote-getters May 3. Timing was good for the Candidates Night event, according to members of the Strongsville Republican Club, because vote-by-mail ballots for the May primary were available beginning Tuesday.  Candidates in Wards 2, 3 and 4 answered a number of questions from more than 100 voters who attended the event at the Ehrnfelt Event Center — from opinions on Senate Bill 5 to discussing the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities of the city.  The candidates also shared…

Republican Club to Host Candidates Night

City Council hopefuls invited to March 28 event

The Strongsville Republican Club will host a candidates night for the municipal election at 7 p.m. March 28 at the Ehrnfelt Event Center, 18100 Royalton Rd.  All 11 of the candidates for Wards 2, 3 and 4 City Council seats will be invited to speak at the forum.  The public is invited.
