Who Should Replace Pat Shurmur and Tom Heckert?

It's been reported today that the Cleveland Browns' head coach and General Manager Tom Heckert have been fired

Everyone saw it coming after the Cleveland Browns' 24-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday, but it was confirmed on Monday: Head Coach Pat Shurmer and General Manager Tom Heckert are gone. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported through Twitter Monday morning that both had been fired after a less-than-stellar 5-11 season. Shurmer had a dismal 9-23 record over his first two seasons as the head coach. He took the position in 2011. Heckert was hired in 2010. With Shurmur out the door, the Browns will begin their search for a new head coach immediately. The Plain Dealer reports some names in the running are University of Oregon coach Chip Kelly, Penn State's Bill O'Brien, Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator and interim head coach Bruce …

Jon Gruden is the right man for this Job. He led a Tampa Bay team that was eerily similiar to the Cleveland Browns new franchise. He came up with the current system but would bring a stronger personality and more discipline that was sorely lacking in the former regime.I think most Cleveland fans want some continuity because we realize that change every few years is part of the problem.   more ›

Cleveland Browns for Sale? What Do You Think of the Rumors?

The team’s owner, Randy Lerner, has said he is in conversations with Jimmy Haslam, who is “interested in making an investment.”

Updated, 2:40 p.m.: Fox 8 News Cleveland reports that Randy Lerner will sell his controlling interest in the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland Browns owner Randy Lerner has confirmed rumors that he is in negotiations with a potential investor, Jimmy Haslam. According to a release on the Browns' website, Haslam is “interested in making an investment in the Cleveland Browns.” Crain’s Cleveland Business reports that it is not clear whether the move would make Haslam a majority or minority owner in the team if it goes through. But Fox 8 reported Friday that team president Mike Holmgrem has confirmed that Lerner is selling controlling interest in the Browns. Hi Dave, I have written to deceased Lerner and young Lerner. Both have replied, the elder Lerner called me when I lived in Kentucky because he said my letter was so funny. But I agree with you maybe new money will help give the Browns the edge they need, something should.   more ›

Browns Select Richardson, Weeden in First Round

And Patch had a blast at our draft party at Solon Panini's!

Patch came to Solon Panini's and cheered on the Browns as they drafted two offensive weapons. The Browns took running back Trent Richardson with the third pick -- they traded up from the fourth pick to snag the Alabama star -- and quarterback Brandon Weeden with the 22nd pick. We also signed up new readers for our daily e-mail newsletter, gave away some free appetizers and Panini's gift cards and generally had a good time! We hosted a live chat during the draft -- you can find the transcript here. Thanks to Solon Panini's for hosting our event! Go Browns!
