Strongsville Branch Library offers some movie suggestions
If you missed them in the theaters, now's your chance to see these movies selected by Joseph Jones, public services assistant for the Strongsville branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library. These three films and hundreds of others area available at the library, 18700 Westwood Drive. The Other Guys — Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell star as two completely mismatched cops who are stuck doing desk work -- until they finally get a shot at a real case. Light on plot but long on laughs, the real fun is watching the interplay between Wahlberg and Ferrell. Fans of action comedies should check this one out. Strongsville branch library offers some movie suggestions
The cold, snowy weekend ahead is the perfect time to settle in with a great movie on DVD. Joseph Jones, public services assistant at the Strongsville branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library, 18700 Westwood Drive, has some recommendations, all available at the library. Let the Right One In — A DVD you might have missed. Set in Sweden, this horror film features 12-year-old Oskar, a victim of frequent bullying who fantasizes about fighting back. Reviewer looks at 'Ellery Queen,' 'Monk'
My favorite detective TV show, Ellery Queen Mysteries, has finally found life on DVD. I'm thrilled to see this grand 1975 series once again that featured the late great Jim Hutton as the titled hero. Why Ellery Queen Mysteries only lasted one season is a true mystery to me. It was a fun romp that predated mystery classics such as Murder, She Wrote and more recently Monk (see more on this show below) that were real ratings winners. It must have just been ahead of the curve. I was heartbroken when it was prematurely canceled and I haven't seen it since. Hutton is brilliant in the role of Ellery Queen, a mystery writer in the 1940s who helps his Inspector father (David Wayne) solve crimes, or to be more blunt, perplexing murders. The …
