Little Hong Kong plans turned down because of parking shortage
Plans for a Chinese takeout restaurant in part of the former Hobby Town USA spot in the Strongsville Plaza on Pearl Road have been turned down. The Strongsville Planning Commission Thursday voted against a conditional use permit for Little Hong Kong to operate in 2,392 square feet in the former hobby store, 14785 Pearl Rd. Parking is the issue. Officials said the restaurant is required to provide 517 parking spaces, but would only have access to 345, leaving a 172-space deficit. Assistant Law Director Dan Kolick said two restaurants -- Kartel's and Bilo's Bar and Grill -- are already sharing the 345 spaces in the Strongsville Plaza. Agreed! I challenge anyone that drives past this shopping center frequently, as I do, to mention a time recently when parking was an issue here. It could take this restaurant and more and still have parking spaces left over! C'mon!   more ›
