Strongsville Launches Relief Effort for Hurricane Victims

Local businesses are asked to donate items that will be delivered to New York

  The city of Strongsville and local businesses have launched a disaster relief effort to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Starting Thursday, Nov. 8, a sem-trailer donated by Shoreline Transportation will be stationed at the Strongsville Service Center, 16099 Foltz Parkway.  Local companies that wish to donate supplies to the hurricane victims can place them in the semi-trailer between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. over the next few weeks. Shoreline will then deliver the items to people in Staten Island, New York. Recommended supplies for the victims include: Companies planning to donate supplies should contact Ben Stankewicz, Mayor Tom Perciak's assistant, at 440-580-3153 to make sure the trailer is unlocked when they arrive.

I thought, as Romney learned, that the Red Cross really wants monetary donations in lieu of items that require all kinds of logistics to distribute.   more ›
