Strongsville senior Kevin Scholtz wrestles his way to second-place finish at 125 pounds
Strongsville senior Kevin Scholtz was the top Mustang wrestler at the 36th annual Medina Invitational Tournament with a second place finish at 125-pounds Wednesday night at Medina High School. Scholtz, one of two Mustangs to reach the finals, saw his chance at an MIT individual championship end with a 5-1 loss to fifth-seed Dillon Campbell of Harrison where Campbell scored three points in the third period to break from a 2-1 advantage entering the final two minutes. Campbell, who entered the final off a win over Jorge Gonzalez of Mason, moved the advantage to 3-1 with an escape to open the third period and added insurance points in the final 50 seconds to deny Scholtz, who helped the Mustangs to 70 team points for 11th place among Division…

Mustangs take part in one of the elite wrestling holiday tourneys.
What: 36th annual Medina Invitational Tournament. Where: Medina High School, 777 East Union St. When: Tuesday, Dec. 28 and Wednesday, Dec. 29. Session Times: Tuesday, 10 a.m. and 5:30/6 p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m. , finals start at 6 p.m. Cost - Passes (good for all sessions) - Adult $20; Student (Grades K-12) and Senior Citizens (65+ or Golden Buckeye) $16. Children under school age are free. Tickets for Single Session/Each Day - All Day: Adult $12, Student and Senior Citizen $8.
