In the 2008 presidential election, the state voted for Barack Obama, and since the 1990s, has voted for the overall winner of the presidential race every time. Romney and Obama campaigned aggressively in Ohio. The state has typically been a battleground state in recent presidential elections. The economy was a key issue for many voters in the state, as was healthcare.
Ohio's voting goes until 7:30 p.m., but some polls elsewhere close later.

It’s finally Election Day, but Ohio—especially Northeast Ohio—isn’t out of the spotlight yet. Both the Obama and Romney campaigns made a stop in (the exact same spot of) Cleveland earlier today. CNN reports that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s plane landed at the airport earlier today. Shortly before noon, the plane for his vice presidential candidate, Paul Ryan, also landed. So did Vice President Joe Biden’s plane. With all the recent campaign stops in the area, this isn't surprising. Candidate for president making a stop at the I-X Center on Sunday.
With the presidential race headed down the home stretch, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney is making a stop in Cleveland on Sunday. As part of the “Rockin’ for Victory Rally,” Romney is scheduled to speak at the I-X Center at 2:15 p.m. Musical guests — including Rodney Atkins, Sam Moore and the Marshall Tucker Band — are scheduled to perform. According to a news release, all those in attendance “will go through airport-like security and should bring as few personal items as possible.” No bags, sharp objects, umbrellas, liquids or signs will be allowed. Wife of Presidential candidate will visit Strongsville Nov. 1
The Ehrnfelt Recreation Center will close at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 in preparation for a rally with Ann Romney. The Senior Center portion of the building will probably close earlier, Recreation Director Bryan Bogre said. "That will be up to the Secret Service," Bogre said. Doors will open at 4 p.m. for the Women’s Victory Rally with Ann Romney. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. Click here for tickets. It's not known yet whether the rec center will re-open after the rally, which is scheduled to end at 7 p.m. Bogre said a decision will be made at that time, depending on circumstances.
