Opening Date Set for Chick-fil-A

Fast food eatery now under construction on Royalton Road

The Chick-fil-A restaurant now under construction at the Plaza at SouthPark on Royalton Road is set to open Jan. 5, according to the company website. Work started in late August on the building at 16584 Royalton Rd.  The free-standing building will replace the Chick-fil-A in the food court at Westfield SouthPark. It is located next to a new Rockne's, which plans to open by the end of October. Chick-fil-A offers chicken sandwiches and nuggets, salads and wraps, breakfasts, waffle fries and kids' meals.

Another 6-8 Weeks Till Rockne's Opens

Exterior is done, but work is still going on inside

The new Rockne's restaurant being constructed on Royalton Road in front of the Plaza at SouthPark will open in late October or early November, according to owner Scott Brown. Brown said construction is still going on inside the 6,649-square-foot eatery. "It looks like it's ready, but it's not," said Brown, who also owns a  Rockne's in North Canton. "You have to walk inside -- then you can see it's clearly not ready." Rockne's calls itself a fun, casual restaurant with a large selection of menu items, including sandwiches, burgers, steaks, pasta and salads.  Strongsville will be the 11th location for the northeast Ohio regional chain. The newest restaurant will have seating for 200 plus an outdoor patio that will be heated from the floor up…

Strongsville Rockne's to Open in July or August

Building on Royalton Road is about halfway done.

The new Rockne's restaurant on Royalton Road in the Plaza at SouthPark is about four months from opening. "It's going to be somewhere in July, maybe August," said Scott Brown, owner. Brown, who also owns a Rockne's in North Canton, said the building is about half complete now, with brick work starting this week. He said the winter weather did not impede construction much. "I was blessed on that," he said. Strongsville will be the 11th location for the northeast Ohio regional chain, which currently operates in Medina, Fairlawn, Brooklyn, Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Streetsboro, North Canton, Akron, Kent and Massillon. Japanese Restaurant Moving Into Plaza at SouthPark

Samurai sushi and hibachi will open next to Five Below

The Samurai, a Japanese sushi and hibachi restaurant, will open soon in the Plaza at SouthPark. Economic Development Manager Brent Painter said the restaurant will occupy 5,392 square feet at the end of the Best Buy strip, next to Five Below. "It's moving forward again," Painter said. He said Visconsi Companies announced several months ago that Samurai would open there, but the project was delayed. "They're working on it again now," he said. An opening date has not been set.  That leaves only two stores in the Plaza at SouthPark unfilled -- a 5,000-square-foot storefront and a 6,600-square-foot space, both next to La-Z-Boy in the strip that also contains Bed Bath & Boyond and Petco. The plaza is also anchored by Costco, Best Buy, Ulta and …

Rockne's Eyes Spring Opening

Weather will play a factor in construction of new Royalton Road restaurant

Winter weather has put a temporary freeze on construction of a new Rockne's restaurant on Royalton Road across from Westfield SouthPark Mall. But company officials are still hopeful the casual eatery will open in the spring. "We're at the mercy of winter right now," said John Jusi, who oversees development, construction and maintenance for Rockne's.  Strongsville will be the 11th location for the northeast Ohio regional chain, which currently operates in Medina, Fairlawn, Brooklyn, Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Streetsboro, North Canton, Akron, Kent and Massillon. The newest restaurant will have seating for 200 plus an outdoor patio that will be heated from the floor up. In fact, all the sidewalks around the building will be heated to keep them …
