Terry Pluto Entertains at Strongsville Business Breakfast

Columnist and author talks about sports in Cleveland

  Being a Cleveland sports fan "is a real test of loyalty," Terry Pluto said.  He recalled going to see the Indians play with his dad when he was growing up, buying at half price tickets from a scalper outside the stadium at a time when the team was so bad, fans stayed away in droves. "With other franchises, they scalp tickets for more than the face value," he said, drawing a big laugh. Pluto, who writes sports and faith columns for The Plain Dealer and has authored 21 books, was the featured speaker Thursday at Strongsville's quarterly business breakfast. Sportswriter, author to give faith talk Feb. 26 in Strongsville

    Terry Pluto, columnist for the Plain Dealer and author, will give a faith talk at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 at St. Joseph Church, 12700 Pearl Rd., Strongsville. The event is open to the public. Pluto will talk about and sign copies of his new book, Faith and You Volume 2.  Pluto writes a weekly column about faith.

Former Cavs announcer will meet fans at Costco

Costco members can meet legendary announcer Joe Tait, "the Voice of the Cleveland Cavaliers," when he visits the Strongsville store at 16690 Royalton Rd. on Thursday, Dec. 29 from 6-8 pm. Tait will autograph copies of his new book, Joe Tait: It’s Been a Real Ball, which will be available for sale at the event.The book is co-written with award-winning sports writer Terry Pluto.  Based on a series of in-depth interviews, and with memories contributed by Tait’s fans and colleagues, the book covers Joe Tait’s hall-of-fame broadcasting career from his early days announcing high school sports to his retirement from basketball in 2011 after four decades with the Cavaliers.  His animated voice brought the excitement of the game home to listeners, …
