Graduation Party Season: The Lure of Underage Drinking
Keeping teens safe requires extra dilligence from parents who host parties
Graduation party season is in full swing, but these celebrations can have tragic consequences if parents aren't very careful about alcohol. Parade Magazine featured a story last Sunday on teens and extreme drinking, which prompted my thinking about graduation parties back when I was fresh out of high school. Some parties featured no alcohol (mine included), some served only those of legal drinking age and a few allowed teens to drink whatever they wanted. I remember attending at least one party where the graduate's parent stood at the door collecting car keys from anyone under 21 so they could drink but not drive.
