Trial Date Set for Simonoski

Strongsville man charged with attacking ex-wife with ax

A trial has been tentatively set for Dec. 12 for Aco Simonoski, the Strongsville man charged with attempted murder for allegedly hitting his ex-wife in the head with an ax at their Hollo Oval home Aug. 21. Simonoski, 51, is in jail on $500,000 bond. He has pleaded not guilty. Another pretrial has been set for Nov. 15, with the tentative trial date Dec. 12, according to Maria Russo, spokeswoman for Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason. His ex-wife, Milka, remains in a local nursing home. Friends of the family say she is alert and in physical therapy. On Aug. 21, police and prosecutors say Aco and Milka, 51, who were divorced but had tried to reconcile, got into an argument about whether Aco should continue to live in the home. He left the …

Simonoski Remains in Jail Following Ax Attack

Pre-trial is delayed again

The man accused of hitting his wife in the head with an ax Aug. 21 remains in jail on $500,000 bond.  A pre-trial set for Aco "Alex" Simonoski this morning was continued as the defendant obtained new counsel, according to Maria Russo, spokeswoman for Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason. The next pre-trial is set for Nov. 10. Simonoski, 51, formerly of Hollo Oval, has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder. He is charged with getting an ax from the garage during a domestic dispute and hitting his wife, Milka, in the head with it twice. He is also accused of chopping his oldest daughter, Bilyana, 22, in the wrist as she tried to protect her mother. Fundraisers in Brunswick, Cleveland aimed at helping victims of ax attack

Two fundraisers are in the works for the children of the Simonoski family.  The adult kids have been left on their own since an Aug. 21 incident at their former home on Hollo Oval. Their mom, Milka, is recovering slowly from head wounds; their father, Aco, known as "Alex," is in jail on an attempted murder charge. • This Saturday, Oct. 22, there will be an event from 7-9 p.m. at West Park Station Bar and Grill, 17015 Lorain Rd. in Cleveland. • On Nov. 12, friends are organizing an event at Sidelines Bar & Grill, 1165 Pearl Rd., Brunswick, from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and available at the Silver Style kiosk, located just inside the main entrance at Westfield SouthPark. Simonoski Family Copes with Mom's Injury, Dad's Arrest 'One Day at a Time'

Friends planning fundraisers to help family stay on their feet

The younger members of the Simonoski family have a dream for when their mother, Milka, is well enough to come home. "We talk about how she's going to be a princess," oldest daughter Bilyana, 22, says with a shy smile. "We're going to take care of her. She's not going to lift a finger." Milka has been moved from the hospital to a nursing home as she struggles to recover from life-threatening head injuries she received Aug. 21 at the family's former home on Hollo Oval. She's showing signs of recovery, but is still on a ventilator. Police say her ex-husband, Aco, known as Alex, struck her twice in the head with an ax as the couple argued about Aco moving out. Simonoski Pleads Not Guilty to Attempted Murder

Hollo Oval man accused of attacking ex-wife, daughter with ax

Aco Simonsoki, the Hollo Oval man accused of hitting his ex-wife in the head with an ax Simonoski, 51, remains in jail on $500,000 bond. If he is released, he is to have no contact with the victim and must surrender his passport, according to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason's office. The case has been assigned to Common Pleas Judge Ron Suster.  Authorities say Simonoski and his ex-wife, Milka, argued the evening of Aug. 21, prompting Simonoski to hit her in the head with an ax. Their daughter, Bilyana, the only one of their three children who was home at the time, tried to stop him, but he hit her with the ax, causing a laceration and broken bones in her hand.
