News of the Week: Fracking Comes to Town; New Restaurant Opens

Some of the headlines from Strongsville this week: Fracking ahead -- A company expects to use the controversial "hydraulic fracturing" method on two gas/oil wells being drilled on Albion and Webster roads. Pearl Road beautification plan quashed -- A plan by two councilmen to eliminate the "hodge podge" look of development on Route 42 comes under fire. New restaurant -- The Barking Bullfrog, a family friendly sports bar, opens on West 130th Street. School district's $145 million plan -- A closer look at the two-phased plan to build a new middle school and renovate other buildings. New Restaurant Set to Open Today

Barking Bullfrog is family friendly sports bar at Bennett's Corners

A new restaurant is slated to open today in Strongsville's southeast corner. Barking Bullfrog, a family oriented bar and grill, has taken over the former Video Express store at Bennett's Corners Jay Bloesinger, who owns Master Italian Pizzeria on West 130th Street, took over the vacant store next door to expand his restaurant into a full-service sports-themed grill that will feature "real good food and a fun atmosphere." "It's something this area really needs," said Bloesinger, who has operated Master Pizzeria in the Rego's shopping center for two years. "It'll be a place to take the family, relax and have a burger or some pizza." The eatery features free popcorn, "ridiculously oversized portions" and eight 42-inch TVs, plus a 96-inch high…

New Restaurants Lining Up for Strongsville

At least seven new eateries are planning to open here

The city could have four or five new places to eat this year, with two others on the way next year, according to proposals from restaurants. They are: • The Barking Bullfrog, a family oriented bar and grill, is only a few weeks away from opening in the former Video Express store at Bennett's Corners. It is owned by Jay Bloesinger, who also owns the adjacent Master Italian Pizzeria. He promises "real good food and a fun atmosphere." • Rosewood Grill is planning to open in July in the Plaza at SouthPark. Owned by Hospitality Restaurants, it will be modeled after the Rosewood Grill in Hudson. Barking Bullfrog on Track to Open in June

Family oriented sports bar-grill is renovating space at Bennett's Corners

A new restaurant slated for the southeast part of Strongsville is on target for a June 1 opening. Renovations are on track at the Barking Bullfrog, a family oriented bar and grill that will take over the former Video Express store at Bennett's Corners, according to owner Jay Bloesinger. "I got the liquor license two days ago," Bloesinger said. "Thing are coming along very well." I love to see this coming and have been waiting ever since Harpos closed for this very needed facility, but, why does everything have to be a sports bar with 37 large TV's? I personally would prefer some type of "jukebox", or heaven forbid, live music on the weekends.   more ›
