A small rash of break-ins hits west side of town
Police are looking into three burglaries that have been reported in the last few weeks in the western part of Strongsville. Homes on Gate Post Road, Country Way and Autumn Oval have been broken into recently. Police are investigating whether they are related because they are all in a relatively small area of town, although they aren't especially similar in nature. Detective Lt. John Janowski said the burglar got into one house through an open window, another through the front door and the third by kicking in the back door. A Wii game system was taken from one house, and jewelry and other small, easy-to-carry items from another. Nothing was stolen from the third, but Janowski said that may be because the residents were only gone for an …

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department
Three unusual burglaries or attempted break-ins were reported to police Friday and Saturday: • A tenant at a Whitney Road apartment told police Saturday someone had come into her apartment and used her make-up while she was out. A report said the woman was credible and reasonable. She told officers someone had come into her unit once before in the five years she's lived there, but she did not report it. Officers gave her advice on how to keep intruders out. • A Lunn Road resident heard someone pounding on her rear sliding door about 1 a.m. Friday. Next thing she knew, the woman had climbed through a window and was in the living room. The intruder was not looking to steal -- she was too intoxicated, according to a report. She was charged …

Two more residents report hearing someone trying to get in over the weekend
Two more residents reported hearing someone trying to get into their houses this week, but there is no indication they are related to two incidents Oct. 8 and 9 in which would-be intruders opened windows of occupied homes. "There's no way to say if they're related or not," Detective Lt. John Janowski said. "There's nothing that connects them." On Oct. 14, a Glendale Avenue resident heard someone trying to open the front door about 10:14 p.m. And on Oct. 16, a resident on Waterfall Road heard a noise that sounded like someone opening the front door, causing her dog to bark, about 12:30 a.m. In both cases, police found nothing suspicious. "It's been wet and rainy, but we haven't found any footprints outside," Janowski said. And on both days…

Having just read through the police blotters and now this article...did anyone else notice each blotter report has the resident as a female? Only one states resident as being a family. Looks a little strange to me. Scary that the STV P.D. stated early on that this person only goes to houses that have someone home. Scary!   more ›
