At least three companies are negotiating for Royalton Road store
A change of ownership at the Borders Plaza has led to a renewed leasing effort for the former bookstore -- and Earth Fare, the grocery store that announced last year it was moving in, is still interrested. Harvey Kay of Kay Brokerage & Consulting said he is "still in negotiations with Earth Fare" for the former Borders site. But it's not the only store looking at the plaza. "There are three national companies that are interested," Kay said. He said he could not name the other retailers negotiating for the site. Earth Fare announced last August it had signed a lease to take over the 27,000-square-foot anchor store formerly occupied by Borders. But a few weeks later, U.S. Bank filed a foreclosure action in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas …

Company isn't talking about its plans now that shopping center faces foreclosure
Three months after Earth Fare confirmed rumors it would move into the former Borders store here, there has been no movement and no word from the healthy supermarket about what's going on. Complicating the situation is that there is a foreclosure suit against the owner of the plaza. "It's all up in the air right now," Brent Painter, Strongsville's economic development director, said. "I've tried to get in contact with Earth Fare, but I haven't been able to." The company's assistant marketing director, Kristi Kanzig, could not be reached for comment. U.S. Bank filed a foreclosure action in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court against Ledgewood Equities, the owner of the shopping center. It was filed a few weeks after Earth Fare agreed to …

Supermarket will move into vacant Royalton Road store
Rumors about Earth Fare moving into the former Borders store on Royalton Road have been confirmed. Kristi Kanzig, assistant director of marketing for the Asheville, N.C.-based chain, said the company has just signed a lease for the site. Kanzig said it is too early to speculate on when Earth Fare, which bills itself as a "healthy supermarket," might open. She said the stores typically employ 70 to 90 full- and half-time workers. Earth Fare operates 28 stores in eight states -- including Fairview Park and Fairlawn -- and offers natural foods like local and organic fruits and vegetables. The store also has a full-service meat, poultry and fish department. It does not carry any items containing high-fructose corn syrup, trans fats, artificial…

Store confirms it is looking to open here
Earth Fare, an Asheville, N.C.-based chain that calls itself a "healthy supermarket," is looking to open a store in Strongsville, a company spokeswoman said. The confirmation comes after weeks of speculation that the company is negotiating for the former Borders site. However, the company did not specify that it is looking at Borders. "We are interested in Strongsville and looking in the area, however we do not have plans finalized as of yet," Anastasia Bursenos, a company representative, said in an e-mail. Earth Fare operates 21 stores in six states -- including Fairview Park and Fairlawn -- and offers natural foods like local and organic fruits and vegetables. The store also has a full-service meat, poultry and fish department. It does …

Judy- Your comment " just as I'm pretty sure they aren't going to put a book store into the same spot one went out of" is incorrect, to say the least. Borders left that spot because the company, not our local store, made bad management decisions and did not keep up with changes in peoples lives as it pertains to how they use books and technology - unlike Barnes & Noble.
