News of the Week: Teachers Take Step Toward Strike; Richest, Poorest Neighborhoods

Here's what went on in town over the last few days

  Here's a wrap-up of Strongsville news this week: Teachers authorize strike -- The Strongsville teachers' union takes the first step toward a work stoppage.  Which neighborhoods are wealthiest? -- An interactive map shows where median income in highest and lowest in Strongsville. Teachers launch webpage -- Strongsville teachers, unhappy with on-going contract talks, have started a website to express their concerns. Fish fries -- Here's where to get some tasty dinners on Fridays during Lent. Another new business -- A company is moving from Fairview Park to a vacant building in Strongsville.  Bats at the rec center -- The spa at the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center is expected to open Tuesday, a month after employees found a bat in the building.

Who Has the Best Fish Fry?

We're looking for your favorite Friday night meal during Lent

Last week, we found out Strongsville's favorite place to get a burger is B Spot, with Five Guys not far behind. Now we're looking for recommendations on the best place to grab a fish fry on a Friday night during Lent. We've included only non-profits in our poll, but if there's a restaurant serving up a great fish dinner, you can vote for it in the Comments section. Two of the places -- St. John Neumann and VFW Post 3345 -- are right here in Strongsville, while the others are nearby in North Royalton, Brunswick, Berea and Olmsted Falls.

Fish Fry Season Starts Today

Here are a few in the Strongsville area.

Lent is here, which translates to tasty Friday fish fries throughout northeast Ohio. Here are a few in Strongsville and neighboring communities. • St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 16271 Pearl Rd., Strongsville -- None tonight. The fish fry schedule is March 18 and 25 and April 1, 8 and 15; 5-8 p.m.  • VFW Post 3345, 17900 Strongsville Blvd., Strongsville -- Fish fries are year-round, 4:30-8 p.m. • St. Albert the Great Church, 6667 Wallings Rd., North Royalton -- Every Friday during Lent except Good Friday; 4:30-7 p.m. • St. Colette Catholic Church, 330 W. 130th St., Brunswick -- Every Friday during Lent except Good Friday; 4-7 p.m.; menu varies each week. • Brunswick United Methodist Church, 1395 Pearl Rd., Brunswick -- Every Friday in …
