Changes for Giant Eagle -- Developers have made significant changes to the plans for the Market District store on Pearl Road. Buildings razed to make way for grocery store

  This was all that remained of Strongsville Golf on Friday as crews cleared away the debris after the building was demolished to make way for a new Giant Eagle Market District store. Honey Hut was still standing Friday morning.

News of the Week: Traffic Woe Addressed; New Jobs Coming; Giant Eagle on Schedule

Here's what happened in Strongsville in the last few days

  A rundown of the top stories in town this week: Traffic woes at plaza -- The Plaza at SouthPark has gotten permission to add an access road that will give motorists another way to get to Costco, Best Buy, Rosewood Grill and other stores other than waiting in long left-turn line. New business wants to take over gas station -- A Medina company that says it's a one-stop shop for home remodelers has submitted plans to revamp the old service station at Pearl and Westwood. Homes in foreclosure -- There are 12 houses in Strongsville going to sheriff's sale in October. Giant Eagle ready to start -- The company plans to break ground on its new Market District store this month, with a late-summer opening likely. New jobs -- New and expanding …

News of the Week: New Wine Bar, Burglar Targets One Street, Work Starts on 'Ring Road,' Future of Outdoor Pool

Here's what went on in Strongsville over the last few days

Some of the headlines from Strongsville Patch this week: 1. New restaurant, upscale wine bar -- Blue Banyon applied for a liquor license for a tapas restaurant and wine bar next to A Taste of Excellence on Pearl Road. The city has objected to the permit pending approval of plans. 2. Work starts on ring road -- Construction has begun on an internal access road that will connect the stores along Pearl Road between Whitney and Sprague. Home Depot's legal action had delayed the road. 3. Outdoor pool -- Mayor Tom Perciak said he does not foresee the city building an outdoor pool any time soon. 4. Vandalism patrol -- Strongsville police will renew their efforts to prevent vandalism and car break-ins in the neighborhoods by stationing officers on…
