Daughter asks friends to write letters to judge who will hear her father's attempted murder case
The children of a man accused of trying to kill his ex-wife by hitting her in the head with an ax Aug. 21 want to convince a judge to give their father the maximum prison sentence. Trial for Aco Simonoski, 51, who is in jail on $500,000 bond and facing an attempted murder charge, is scheduled to start Dec. 5. His daughter, Bilyana, said prosecutors are hoping for a 15-year prison sentence if her father is convicted, but that isn't enough. "I've been told that community involvement will help get the maximum sentence," Bilyana said in an email. Maximum sentence would be 18 years. Police and prosecutors say Aco was living this summer with his ex-wife, Milka, and their three adult children in Milka's house on Hollo Oval. On Aug. 21, she told …

Friends planning fundraisers to help family stay on their feet
The younger members of the Simonoski family have a dream for when their mother, Milka, is well enough to come home. "We talk about how she's going to be a princess," oldest daughter Bilyana, 22, says with a shy smile. "We're going to take care of her. She's not going to lift a finger." Milka has been moved from the hospital to a nursing home as she struggles to recover from life-threatening head injuries she received Aug. 21 at the family's former home on Hollo Oval. She's showing signs of recovery, but is still on a ventilator. Police say her ex-husband, Aco, known as Alex, struck her twice in the head with an ax as the couple argued about Aco moving out. He is in jail on attempted murder charges. The whole thing still doesn't seem real …

Hollo Oval man accused of attacking ex-wife, daughter with ax
Aco Simonsoki, the Hollo Oval man accused of hitting his ex-wife in the head with an ax Simonoski, 51, remains in jail on $500,000 bond. If he is released, he is to have no contact with the victim and must surrender his passport, according to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason's office. The case has been assigned to Common Pleas Judge Ron Suster. Authorities say Simonoski and his ex-wife, Milka, argued the evening of Aug. 21, prompting Simonoski to hit her in the head with an ax. Their daughter, Bilyana, the only one of their three children who was home at the time, tried to stop him, but he hit her with the ax, causing a laceration and broken bones in her hand. He then went back and hit Milka, who was lying motionless on the floor, a …
