Looking to make some extra money this Christmas season?
With the holiday shopping season being measured in weeks now, stores are hiring seasonal help for the rush. Macy's announced this week it will be hiring about 80,000 seasonal employees nationwide. Jobs available include store sales, store operations, customer service in call centers, and working in distribution centers. Many of the positions are part-time, and will require working evenings, weekends or overnight. Seasonal workers may also have a shot at permanent positions, if openings become available, depending on performance during the holiday season. Apply online at MacysJOBS.com. Find hundreds of opportunities by browsing our classifieds
Strongsville Patch has a huge list of classified ads for hundreds of jobs in the area. Just click on the "More Stuff" tab, then on Jobs to get a full list from Indeed.com. You can browse through the listings, or search for specific types of employment. Also, if you're in the job market, Brunswick is having a Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, June 15 at the Community Recreation Center, 3637 Center Rd. There will be more than 120 job opportunities there, organizers say.

Industrial parkway would be expanded to Boston Road
The city is asking the Ohio Department of Development for $3.5 million to extend Foltz Parkway to Boston Road to serve 500 acres of industrial land. Strongsville would match that grant with a $1.5 million contribution toward the $5 million project. This is the third time the city is seeking a grant from the Ohio Job Ready Sites Program for the road. "We're hoping the third time's the charm," Mayor Tom Perciak said. Once the road is in place, development a the 500-acre industrial park can start, potentially bringing hundreds of jobs -- and new income tax revenue -- to town. The city owns 169 acres there, with the rest privately held. The existing Foltz Parkway extends into 43 acres of the undeveloped land and stops. Perciak said the city …

Companies are expanding, city official says
Since January, 250 new jobs have been created in Strongsville, Economic Development Director Brent Painter said. Painter, speaking Thursday at the city's quarterly Business Networking Breakfast, gave a rundown of business growth and activity over the last few months: • ITT Technical Institute has finished a renovation that includes an Internet cafe and new classrooms • Industrial Video on Sprague Road is planning a 3,500-square-foot expansion. • Olympia Candies has introduced a food menu that includes burgers starting at $3, other sandwiches, salads and sides from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. • A Taste of Excellence, 16888 Pearl Rd., has moved into what Painter called a "beautiful" renovation of the former Strongsville Lanes and in the fall …
