Sheetz, O'Charley's Plans Clear a Hurdle
Planning Commission recommends in favor of rezoning parcels at Whitney-Pearl
A Sheetz gas station and O'Charley's restaurant got one step closer to taking shape at the corner of Whitney and Pearl roads Thursday night when the Planning Commission recommended in favor of rezoning two parcels. The commission voted 7-0 in favor of rezoning one parcel to Motor Services and the other to Restaurant-Restaurant Services. "It's a long time coming," Mayor Tom Perciak said. Both projects were introduced in January by WXZ Development Inc., which is seeking to develop the vacant land in front of Lowe's. The corner of Whitney and Pearl has been tied up in foreclosure and legal action for years after two previous developers ran into financial trouble and abandoned their projects. Now they still need to cleanup that eyesore at the SW corner. Maybe they could put a BP gas station with convenient store there, and give some competition to Sheetz - and give us an alternative. Besides, if you had another station at the opposite corner, it would answer those complaints about potential traffic problems; i.e., help with people going south and not everyone trying to get to 1 gas …   more ›
