SouthPark Mall will let shoppers in at midnight
For the second year, SouthPark Mall will welcome shoppers at midnight Friday. Marketing Director Andy Selesnik said at least 90 percent of the stores will be open for the event. "Dillard's won't be open, and some of the service-oriented stores, like for harcuts or eyeglasses, won't open," he said Retailers competing for holiday gift dollars have gradually extended Black Friday hours -- where big box stores used to open at 5 a.m., they're now opening at midnight, or on Thanksgiving evening. "People used to get up early to shop on Black Friday," Selesnik said.
