Strongsville Community Theatre presents playful Shakespeare romp
Strongsville Community Theatre will present William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Lisa Ortenzi. The story: A playful Shakespearean romp through the forest where teens run away from their parents and run towards love, where a group of community theater players rehearse a most lamentable tragedy, where the fairy world collides with the real world and magic and zaniness ensues -- all set in the groovy time period of the 1970s. The play will run April 26, 27 and 28 and May 3, 4 and 5. Tryouts are Jan. 6-7 for 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'
Strongsville Community Theatre will audition actors for its spring production of the comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare. Auditions are set for 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6 and 6:30-9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7 at the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center, 18100 Royalton Rd. An appointment is preferred. Walk-ins are welcome and will be auditioned where space is available. Use the main entrance; the audition room is to the left. Prepare a one-minute monologue and be prepared to read a quick excerpt from the script, and bring a photo. To save time, download the audition form from the SCT website and bring it with you. Strongsville Community Theatre will present a holiday production of 1940s Radio Christmas Carol for two weekends starting Nov. 30 This musical is pure nostalgia and pure fun laced with swing music and wacky comedy. It's a "live radio" production of A Christmas Carol, but circumstances end up changing Dickens' classic into an absurd film noir mystery. The show runs Nov. 30, Dec. 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 at the Little Theater at Strongsville High School. Strongsville Community Theatre is looking for singers
Strongsville Community Theatre will have auditions for its 1940s Radio Christmas Carol musical on Sunday, Sept. 30 from 2-5 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 1 from 6-9 p.m. at the Ehrnfelt Senior Center, 18100 Royalton Rd. SCT will cast seven roles for men ages 17 to 70 and four women's roles for ages 20 and older. Come prepared with a song. An accompanist will be provided, or bring a CD accompaniment. Strongsville Community Theatre will hold auditions for its fall production Looking, a contemporary romantic comedy by Norm Foster, on Sunday, Aug, 5 from 2-5 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 6 from 6:30-9 p.m. Auditions will take place at the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center, 18100 Royalton Rd., behind Target. Strongsville Community Theatre's final play of the season, Design for Murder, opens April 27 at the Strongsville High School Little Theatre, 20025 Lunn Rd., Door D. This play is a fast-moving, highly tensed whodunit where the audience is treated to a New York wealthy loft apartment, a sleazy blackmailer, a trenched-coated detective and even a dark and stormy night.
