Man in Cape at the Mall; Loud Humming Plagues Residents: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

A man dressed in a full black cape caught the attention of police at SouthPark Mall about 10 p.m. June 16.

A report said the man was pacing, sweating and acting weird.

He allowed an officer to search him and checked out okay, the report said.

He was at the mall to watch the midnight showing of a Batman movie.

Hmmmmm, What is That?

Some Webster Road residents reported hearing a loud humming about 10 p.m. June 13.

Police checked Webster and Whitney Road, but couldn't find the source, which a report said sounded like a loud generator.

An officer finally tracked it to a business on Dow Circle, where a cleaning crew was washing the floors with a loud machine. The crew agreed to turn off the machine for the night.

Guns, Ammo Left Behind

The manager of Holiday Inn turned over a gun, lots of ammo and three knives in a bag left behind by a guest June 13.

Police went to the Strongsville home of the man who rented the room, but he was out of town.

Gunshot?

A Boston Road couple told police a bullet whizzed over their heads while they were working in the yard about 3 p.m. June 11.

Police couldn't find where it might have come from.

Alleged Thieves Nabbed

A witness on Stoughton Drive saw two males looking in cars and pulling the door handles about 1 a.m. June 11.

Someone picked them up in a car, which police stopped at Pearl and Drake roads, a report said.

Four people were apprehended. Police found at least one car on Echo Drive with its glove box ripped open.

Car Yuck

A man was inside Walmart for about an hour June 10 and came out at 1 a.m. to find someone had sprayed something that smelled like coconut all over his car.

A report said it may have been suntan lotion.

Monk Business

A witness reported three men in orange jumpsuits walking down Pearl Road shortly after midnight June 10.

Police said the men were monks from a local temple.
