Police Blotter: Beggars at Mall; and What's Up with Deer Antlers?

For the fourth time in two weeks, police have been called to check out men walking in wooded area, only to learn they are there to look for deer antlers.

On March 9, police were alerted to a man in a green car who went into a wooded area off Alameda Drive carrying a bag.

He told officers he was looking for deer antlers and had gotten permission to be there.

The next day, a man in a white truck was found parked on Cedar Creek, a new street off Prospect Road, for the same reason.

Last week, Strongsville Patch reported of men who told police they were in the woods to find antlers.

Man with Gun?

A caller said there was a man wearing a blue puffy jacket carrying some sort of gun on Drake Road at Waterford Parkway about 9 p.m. March 10.

Police could not locate the armed walker.

Soliciting at Mall

A man and woman were knocking on car windows and asking for money at about 6:45 p.m. March 10.

Both were white, and the woman was smoking.

They had left when police arrived.

Loud Party

A resident on Colebright Drive complained about yelling, loud music and revving of engines after midnight March 10. 

A report said the homeowner has previously been cited for a noise disturbance, and an alleged assault was reported there.

Officers spoke with the homeowner, who said the noise was caused by some people who were asked to leave the party. 

Police warned her that if they had to return, she would be cited.

Attempted Burglary

A Crown Point Parkway resident found pry marks on the front and back doors March 9.

Long Way to Go to Help

A mal told police he had slid off Route 42 near a car dealership about 2:15 a.m. March 9 and couldn't get out of his car.

Officers searched the area near Strongsville Dodge on Pearl Road, as well as the area near Serpentini Chevrolet on Royalton Road, but couldn't locate the man.

He called back to say he could see a sign that said "Deerfield 8 miles, Lake Milton 10 miles."

Those cities are in Mahoning County. Police advised sheriff's deputies there, who located the man on Route 534.
