Vacant Plaza Starting to Get Tenants

Royal Center has stood idle on Pearl Road for two years, but leasing has begun

A retail plaza on Pearl Road that has stood vacant for two years will get its first tenant soon.

Tony Sheiban, who owns , said a salon has leased 5,000 square feet at Royal Center, located at the south end of Pearl Road next to

"I'm hoping the shopping center will be full soon," Sheiban said.

He offered two reasons for the delay in leasing the retail plaza:

• The diverted traffic from the area and made access difficult. "If you're going to open business, you want people to be able to get to it," Sheiban said.

• He is particular about the businesses that will lease there. "I want to present my shopping center the right way," he said. "I don't want just anybody in there."

Strongsville Economic Development Director Brent Painter said the city features the plaza on its website and has seen interest in it lately.

"It gets more hits than any other property," he said.

Sheiban said he hopes is successful in its efforts to , saying it will help that part of town reclaim its rightful title as the city's business center.

"People don't want to fight all the traffic on Royalton Road," Sheiban said. "The heart of Strongsville is this area."
