Local Families Paying it Forward By Buying Gifts for Kids in Hospital

Event this week in Berea will raise money for Christmas presents at Rainbow

With temperatures expected to hit 90 today, you can cool off with a sno-cone and help kids at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital at the same time.

Two local families, Megan and Al Kuhlenschmidt and  Kelli and Jeff Buttolph, will be selling the icy treats today, Wednesday and Thursday at North Coast All Stars, 125 Blaze Industrial Parkway in Berea, from 6-8 p.m.

Proceeds will go to Jeremy Cares, a non-profit group based in Avon Lake that buys Christmas presents for kids at Rainbow at the holidays.

The group was co-founded by Debbie George, who was so grateful for the support her family received when her son Jeremy underwent a stem-cell transplant two days before Christmas a few years ago, she decided to "pay it forward" by buying gifts for all the kids in Rainbow over the holidays, as well as their siblings.

The  Kuhlenschmidts and Buttolphs, who were recipients of Jeremy Cares services, will also run in the Columbus Marathon next month to raise money for the organization.
