All branches of Cuyahoga County Public Library will be closed on Sunday, April 8 for the Easter holiday. Normal hours will resume  on Monday, April 9.

Cuyahoga County Public Library offers story time sessions year-round for children birth to grade 2.  Our current story time session will end on April 27for a short hiatus.  Story Time sessions will begin again on June 4. No registration required. Join us as we share stories and fun in a group setting! Please call the Strongsville Branch for specific program details.

Women in History: The Unsinkable Molly Brown.  Tuesday, April 3 at 7 p.m.

Join us in honoring the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, with a special presentation.  Local actress Carol Starre-Kmiecik brings to life the Unsinkable Molly Brown.  Ms. Starre-Kmiecik performs this one-woman show using many of the actual words spoken by this most famous person to survive the sinking of the Titanic -- Molly Brown herself.  Learn more about this passionate and outspoken woman in our history.

Young at Heart Book Club.  Meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. 

A book club for adults who love children’s and teen books.  Our next discussion will be on Tuesday, April 3. Please register in person to pick up a copy of the book Ninth Ward by Jewell Parker. Join us for refreshments and a sprightly discussion of children’s and teen literature.

Mythical Movie Making.  Wednesday, April 4 at 6 p.m. For teens in Grades 6 – 12.

Create a legendary video of epic proportions to enter into the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Mythical Creatures in Cleveland Video Contest.  Bring Digital images or video clips of mysterious local landscapes, dragon lairs, Lake Erie mermaids, or urban unicorn to use in your five minute film. New to video creation? This hands-on class is the place to start.

Quick and Dirty Creative Writing for Teens.  Monday, April 9 from 7– 8:30 p.m. For Teens in grades 6 – 12.  

Spark the writer in you!  Engage in some quick and fun writing activities to get your creative ideas going.  Hosted by Rhonda Stapleton, author of Stupid Cupid, Flirting with Disaster and Pucker Up.

Pruning 2.0: Your Favorite Shrubs & Vines.  Thursday, April 12 at 7 p.m.

When do I prune my pesky hydrangea?  Is it true that I can really prune rhododendrons?  Can I stop my wisteria from devouring my house?  Join the Master Gardeners of Cuyahoga County to learn how to prune some of your favorite ornamental shrubs and vines.  You will learn how, when, and where to prune in order to keep your favorite plants healthy, well-groomed, and flowering their best.

Marketing on a Shoestring.  Tuesday, April 17 at 7 p.m.

Competition is fierce. How do you market your product and services with limited capital? Learn how to avoid marketing pitfalls. Develop and use successful marketing strategies. What approaches should you take? Is social media helpful? Does word of mouth still count? Come to this information packed program and get answers to your marketing questions.

Wednesday Evening Book Discussion.  Meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7  p.m. 

New Members Welcome!  Our next discussion will be on Wednesday, April 18 at 7 p.m.  We will discuss the book Half-Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls.  Copies will be available to pick-up at the circulation desk. Join us for great conversation!

Just 4 U Student Friends Meeting.  Saturday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m.  Ages 10 – 18. 

Join the Just 4 U Student Friends group and get involved in your library!  You can help your library with volunteer projects and other activities. Contact the Teen Librarian or Children's Librarian for an application.

Boom Blox Gaming Day.  Saturday, April 21 from 2 – 4 p.m. 

Throw, grab, and blast your way to fun for the ENTIRE family.  Join us for an afternoon of gaming with the Wii game BOOM BLOX.  This action-packed game  involves destroying or building structures together with friends and family while competitive play involves playing against others.  Registration begins on Monday, April 2 at 9 a.m.

Monday Afternoon Book Discussion.  Meets the 4th Monday of each month at 2:30 p.m.

Strongsville Saves Coupon Club.  Meets the 4th Monday of each month from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.  Our next meeting is on April 23

Join us for our coupon swap club and share your passion for saving with other like-minded shoppers!  Bring your scissors, and your stockpile of manufacturer coupons to share. Share what you don't want and hopefully leave with more coupons that you really need! This is the place to trade coupons, spend time with other coupon lovers, and share stories of great deals! See how others organize and share tips.

Introduction to Public Speaking.  Tuesday, April 24 at 7 p.m.

Many people are nervous about speaking in public in a variety of situations such as community events, family events (toasts at weddings), or presentations on the job.  At the same time, in today’s highly competitive job market, executives rank “Communication Skills” as the No. 1 qualification they look for in a candidate.  Join Assistant Professor Kelly Webb from the University of Akron as she offers tips on how to effectively prepare for public speaking situations. 

Teens: Show Your Mustang Spirit. Monday, April 30 from 7 – 8:30 p.m.  Grades 5 and up.

Papercrafts are a fun way to express yourself and show off your favorites! In this scrapbooking class we’ll learn from scrapbook artist Mary Kemock how to  make a page showing off your favorite activity and Strongsville Mustang pride. Scrapbook supplies provided! Remember to bring your photos.

Teens are invited to bring a parent or relative to the program, if they wish.  Please indicate when registering the total number coming to the program.
