'Winteriffic' Coming to Chalet Sunday

Cleveland Metroparks event will have dog sleds, wagon rides, ice fishing

 

Celebrate the season at the new "Winteriffic" event on Sunday, Jan. 6 at the Cleveland Metroparks' Chalet Recreation Area in Strongsville.

The event runs noon to 5 p.m. with:

  • Dog Sled Demonstrations: Noon, 2 and 4 p.m.
  • Snowshoe Rental and Instruction ($13 per person): Noon to 4 p.m.
  • Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides with a naturalist ($5 per person): Noon to 4:30 p.m.
  • Winter "How-To-Dress" Demonstrations: 12:30, 1:30 and 3 p.m.
  • Ice Fishing Demonstrations: 1 and 3:30 p.m.
  • Snow Bike Demonstrations by Century  Cycles: 1 and 3:30 p.m. 

There will also be ice sculpting demonstrations, winter crafts for kids, a snow shelter and snowman building areas, refreshments for sale and other snow activities.

Even if there's no snow, guests can ride the Chalet Toboggan Chutes - the only public ice chutes in Ohio, now with a brand-new toboggan lift.

Daily admission to the chutes is $10 for adults and $8 for kids 11 and under. One-time ride tickets are available for $4. 

Food and refreshments will be available for sale at the Chalet concession stand.

The Chalet Recreation Area is at 16200 Valley Parkway in Mill Stream Run Reservation, between Routes 42 and 82 in Strongsville.
