Discount Drug Mart Construction on Track

Work continues at corner of Prospect and Royalton roads

It looks like , which had hoped to be open by Christmas, will get its holiday wish.

The drugstore, which will anchor a , is making good progress, officials said.

"The last time I talked to them, they were still optimistic about (opening) this year," said Brent Painter, the city's economic development director.

Painter said that while there is still exterior work being done, once the building is enclosed and interior fixtures are in, Discount Drug Mart is able to stock a store within a few days.

Drug Mart is expanding the former Vigliucci's Bi-Rite at the corner of Prospect and Royalton roads for a 27,960-square-foot store. The company is adding 12,000 square feet to the front of the building, including a drive-through pharmacy.

 and have already moved to another spot in the plaza to make way for the Discount Drug Mart, and an outbuilding was razed for more parking.
