Chick-fil-A opens with ribbon-cutting and First Bite Ceremony

The new opened this morning with an unusual company custom: a First Bite Ceremony.

The restaurant also had a traditional ribbon-cutting and a flag dedication. Members of the Strongsville High School band played for the event.

Mayor Tom Perciak welcomed the new fast-food restaurant, which expects to hire 91 people.

"Nothing makes this mayor happier  . . . than to see good, positive business growth," Perciak said.

said the restaurant is glad to be in Strongsville.

"We want to be part of the community. We want to give back to the community," he said.

That has already started, said Bruce Keenan of the Strongsville Rotary. Keenan said Wellman contacted him because he wanted the first meal cooked at the new Chick-fil-A to be for charity.

On Tuesday night, the restaurant hosted a private party, with proceeds going to the Strongsville Emergency Food Bank.
