Here are the Restaurants Residents Want in Strongsville

Readers call for upscale dinner spots, chains, breakfast places -- you name it

Just when you think there are lots of places to eat in Strongsville, you find out how many restaurants aren't here -- and should be.

Readers came up with no less than 45 suggestions to the question, "Which restaurant is missing in Strongsville," when we published it yesterday.

Most popular choice: PF Chang's. Also getting multiple votes were First Watch, Melt Bar and Grilled, Cracker Barrel,  Cheesecake Factory and Maggiano's.

Breakfast options were big winners, with readers calling for Bob Evans, IHOP, Perkins, Pancake House, Eat 'n Park and Denny's, in addition to First Watch.

"We really need a Bob Evans, Cracker Barrel or Perkins near the ice rink," Marie said.

Also getting multiple nominations were Brio, Bravo, Aladdin's, Austin's, Bonefish Grill, OutbackMongolian Barbecue, Jason's Deli and Winking Lizard.

Economic Development Director Brent Painter said several of the restaurants have considered opening in Strongsville.

"One are two are still actively looking, so there's a possibility they'll be here," said Painter, who said he could not identify which restaurants are eyeing the city.

Some people said they want chains like Red Robin, Bahama Breeze, Olive Garden, Chili's, The Boneyard and Ruby Tuesday.

"Bonefish Grill or any other with GOOD seafood options," Jay wrote.

"Also a good pizza place to sit down and eat it there, like a Pizza Papalis," Angie suggested.

Janet wants "something open late or 24 hours. Somewhere to eat late besides Taco Bell drive-through or the 24-hour Subway at BP."

"A good New York pizzeria that makes authentic thin crust pizza. A Memphis style BBQ smokehouse," Terry suggested.

Others are hoping Michael Symon will follow up his success by opening his signature Lola in Strongsville.

And it looks like one person will get his wish -- has already said it hopes to build at Whitney and Pearl roads.

Painter said several high-quality restaurants have opened here in the last few years, including , and , in addition to , which is expected to open this summer in the Plaza at SouthPark.

"There are some good restaurants here right now, and there are some good restaurants on that (Strongsville Patch) list," Painter said.
