Blotter: Bottle Bombs Explode; Wildflowers Stolen from Yard

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A Peachtree Drive resident reported hearing four gunshots between 2:45 and 3:15 a.m. Aug. 15.

Police found debris in the street, though, that indicated the noise had come from bottle bombs exploding.

Officers checked the area, but found no one around. They also waited in the neighborhood for awhile, but there were no other incidents.

Smaller Explosions

A Fox Gove resident reported about 3:30 a.m. Aug. 15 that someone set off fireworks in his driveway.

Police said someone had thrown a couple hundred firecrackers into the drive.

Please Don't Take the Daisies

A Cook Avenue man returned home from work about 5 p.m. Aug. 13 and found his wildflowers missing from his yard.

They were there when he left at 7 a.m. Their value was placed at around $10.

Theft from Vehicles

Two unlocked cars in a South Inlet Drive driveway were entered the night of Aug. 13.

A GPS, a backpack, two headrest video consoles and a change purse were stolen from the cars.

Suspicious Walker

A passerby reported a man carying a brown paper bag in the shape of a bottle walking at Waterford Parkway and Drake Road about 10 a.m. Aug. 15.

The motorist suspect the man was intoxicated.

Police found the man showed no signs of impairment. He had lottery tickets in the bag.

Why is Door Up?

A resident watching a vacant house on Oakland Park Drive got concerned when the garage door was suddenly standing open the morning of Aug. 15.

Police got in touch with the owner's family members, who said no one should be at the house.

There were no signs the house had been entered. Police resecured the garage door and advised the owner's family to check on the house soon to make sure it had not been burglarized.

No Hunting

A Whitney Road resident saw four boys in the woods, armed with some type of guns and shooting at deer about 11 a.m. Aug. 16.

Police checked the woods, but couldn't find anyone.
