May programs announced at Strongsville branch

Here are the events for May at the Strongsville Branch Library. Registration is required for most events.  Call 440-238-5530 to register or for more information.  All events are sponsored by the Friends of Strongsville Branch Library. 

Customers may also visit the Cuyahoga County Public Library website to register and to see more library event information. 

All branches of Cuyahoga County Public Library will be closed on May 28, 29 and 30 in observation of Memorial Day.

Year-Round Story Times!

Cuyahoga County Public Library offers story time sessions year-round for children Birth to Grade 2.  Story Time sessions resume in June.  Call the Strongsville Branch for program information and more details.

Young at Heart Book Club.  Meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.

A book club for adults who love children’s and teen books.  Next discussion will be on Tuesday, May 3. Register in person to pick up a copy of the book The Outcasts of 19 Schuyler Place  by E. L. Konigsburg. 

How to Play the Drugstore Game.  Tuesday, May 10 at 7 p.m.
Join SavingsinAkron.com expert Stacy Smith as she shares information about "couponing" in the drugstores.  Stacy will share her expertise and answer your questions about this topic of consumer savings.

Just 4 U Student Friends.  Ages 10  - 18.  Saturday, May 14 from 11 a.m. – noon.
Join Just 4 U Student Friends and help your library with volunteer projects and other activities.

Babysitting Workshop.  Ages 11-18.  Saturday, May 14, 1-4 p.m.
Learn the babysitting basics. This workshop will cover basic child care, minor first aid, handling emergencies, and entertaining children. Light snack provided.  

Good Morning, Strongsville Speaker Series.  Wednesday, May 18, 10-11 a.m.
A library open house speaker series of programs for seniors and residents of Strongsville. Meets every other month. May speaker will be Jennifer Milbrandt, city of Strongsville arborist, who will talk about urban forestry, recycling, and horticulture programs.  

Wednesday Evening Book Discussion.  Meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.  
New members welcome. Next next discussion will be Wednesday, May 18 at 7 p.m. on The Given Day  by Dennis Lehane.  Copies of the book will be available for check-out at the circulation desk.


Look & Feel Your Best Through Color.  Thursday, May 19 at 7 p.m.
There is a reason why you look and feel better in certain colors.  When you wear colors that enhance your natural coloring, you look younger and healthier. Join national speaker, image expert and author Dawn Waldrop, as she shares information with us about how what colors you wear helps you to look and feel your best. 

 Teen READ Book Club.  Grades 5 – 8.  Saturday, May 21 from 11 a.m. to noon.

 Teens in grades 5 - 8 are invited to a book discussion club just for you. Refreshments will be served and you can win a free book as a door prize.  Meets every third Saturday at 11 a.m.  Contact the library for copies of the book being discussed. Registration is requested. 

Monday Afternoon Book Discussion.  Meets the fourth Monday of each month at 2:30 p.m.  New members welcome. Next discussion will be on Monday, May 23.  Copies of the book Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier are available at the circulation desk.

Strongsville Saves Coupon Club.  Meets the fourth Monday of each month from 6:30–8:30 p.m.  Next meeting is May 23. 
Join the coupon swap club and share your passion for saving with other like-minded shoppers!  Bring your scissors and your stockpile of manufacturer coupons to share.  Share what you don't want and hopefully leave with more coupons that you really need!  This is the place to trade coupons, spend time with other coupon lovers, and share stories of great deals!  See how others organize and share tips with other "couponers."

Play, Learn, & Grow.  Ages 3 and younger with parent/caregiver.  Tuesday, May 24 from 10:30–11:30 a.m.
Explore toys, books, and activities with your child and meet with a specialist who can answer questions about your child's development.  Registration begins on Monday, May 9 at 9 a.m.

 Geocaching.  Wednesday, May 25 at 7 p.m.

This program is an introduction to geocaching, the 21st century's scavenger hunt. It's fun, it's easy and everywhere. Find out what it is and how it's done.
