Hospice Pet Therapy Evaluation Class

Pet Therapy
Evaluation Class

Hospice of the Western Reserve is seeking pet therapy
volunteers to visit hospice and palliative care patients in private residences,
nursing homes, assisted living communities, our two Hospice House locations,
and hospital settings throughout northern Ohio.
We are holding a Therapy Dogs International evaluation class on Sunday,
November 17 from 2-4:30 p.m. at Hospice of the Western Reserve, 2173 North
Ridge Rd. East, Lorain, OH 44055.  This
class is only open to those seriously interested in volunteering with their dog
to see Hospice of the Western Reserve patients.
Cost of the class is $15 cash.
Dogs need to be good natured, have good manners, and already had
obedience training and/or AKC Canine Good Citizen certification.  Please bring your clean dog, proof of current
rabies vaccination, current county dog license, and name of veterinarian to the
class.  In addition to this class, the
volunteer will also need to complete 20 hours of volunteer education and have a
criminal background check and a two-step TB test done before beginning to
volunteer.  Pre-registration is
required.  For more information or to
register, call Mary McGowan at 800.707.8922, ext. 6881.
