Check-out These New Books!

Librarians Heather Timko, Dona Stein, & Jennifer Niederhausen bring you three great new books to check-out each week at the Strongsville Branch Library.

Did you know that the Cuyahoga County Public Library is 90 years old this year or that the Strongsville Branch Library is celebrating it’s 10th Anniversary in our new building? We hope you will come in for a visit soon to check-out these and many more new books. Make sure to plan a visit and help us celebrate on Saturday, September 21st from 2 – 4:30 as we have a very special Anniversary Open House Event planned. Covet By Tracey Garvis Graves, September 2013, 320 pages.

Chris and Claire Canton’s marriage is hanging by a thread. Chris has been out of work for a year and has sunk into himself and hasn’t let Claire in for awhile. When he finally gets a job opportunity it’s not exactly a prayer that has been answered. The new job will have him out of town 4 nights a week. Claire thinks this is the last thing their already fragile marriage needs. Then a new man comes into Claire’s life and she begins to question her marriage and herself. Graves gives us a very emotional page turner that examines the hot topic issue of adultery and when is a friendship between a man and a woman actually something more. Fans of women’s fiction that tackle hot topic issues will enjoy this novel.

The Hive By Gill Hornby, September 2013, 352 pages.

Anyone that has ever been a part of a PTA or has school age kids might be able to relate to this debut novel. The setting is St. Ambrose School and the main characters are the moms that responsible for fundraising, being involved with school functions, and taking care of their kids. This is a story about being a parent, navigating the sometimes tricky job of female friendships, and knowing how and when to be yourself. Fans of Bridget Jones’s Diary that have kids will enjoy this new book.

Lookaway, Lookaway By Wilton Barnhardt, August 2013, 352 pages.

Fans of southern fiction and family dramas will be delighted with this new novel from Wilton Barnhardt. The setting is Charlotte, North Carolina and the family in question is the Johnston family. Jerene Jarvis Johnston is the matriarch southern belle to this family that comes from old money. Her husband Duke was big man on campus during his college years but hasn’t amounted to much since then. We also meet two of Jerene’s siblings along with her four children that all have their share of secrets and demons. Fans of Tom Wolfe or Joshilyn Jackson will enjoy this southern dysfunctional family saga.
