A Not-So UFO; Couple Says they're Thieves, But Not Today: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A caller reported something hovering over Bonnie Lane about 10:30 p.m. March 16.

A report said the object had lights on it. The caller told dispatchers the object disappeared, and may have been over the baseball fields near the Ehrnfelt Recreaton Center.

Police checked the area and found a man flying a remote control plane near Safety Town.

Thieves All

When a woman was arrested for shoplifting at Home Depot March 16, police also questioned two people she went to the store with.

The man and woman gave officers permission to search their car, and no merchandise was found.

Their cooperation didn't end there.

"The male and female  . . . admitted that they were thieves, but said they didn't take anything today," the report said.

Bottle Bombs

At least two residents found 2-liter bottles that had been rigged to explode last week.

A man reported March 15 that his son noticed a bottle when he was walking on Kylemore Drive, and as he went by, it exploded.

On March 16, a bottle bomb was apparently used to blow up a mailbox on Squirrel Hollow.

Residents said they heard a loud bang about 10:30 and later found a number of 2-liter bottles around the mailbox and in a neighbor's yard.

Um, What's in the Road?

A caller reported seeing what appeared to be a deceased dog wrapped in shrink wrap on Pearl Road at Valley Parkway about 3:30 p.m. March 17.

Police went to the area and removed some string from the roadway.
