Man Claiming to Be Pastor Asks for a Ride; Intruder Brings Coffee: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

A woman walking home on Broxton Drive about 9:45 p.m. Aug. 7 was approached by a man to identified himself as a pastor and said he needed help.

The man said his car broke down "over there," and waved in the direction of Pearl Road, a report said.

His wife and kids were in the car, and he needed a ride to Key Bank.

The woman declined, then called police, figuring the man was either up to no good, or that he really did need help.

She didn't see the car or anyone else around.

Police didn't either. They checked Pearl Road, but found no broken-down cars.

Caffeinated Visitor

A Burgandy Drive man heard a banging noise outside early Aug. 6, and when he checked his house later, he found coffee spilled on a back window.

Officers said the coffee was on a screen door leading to a back bedroom. 

The resident said he believes someone was trying to get in.

Theft from Car

A car charger, grocery bag and bag of water were taken from a car in a Wolzhaven Avenue driveway the night of Aug. 2.

The owner told police she thinks her doors were locked.

You're Supposed to Be a Good Guy, Batman

A man wearing a Batman cape over his shoulders went behind the counter at Rockne's, grabbed the hostess's cell phone and left.

The incident took place about 12:50 p.m. Aug. 6. He headed toward Chick-fil-A. Police checked the area.

Two Cars Entered at Mall

Two employees reported car break-ins after their shifts were done Aug. 6.

One said $100 in cash, an iPod and an expensive cologne were taken from her vehicle.

She said it was locked, but there was no evidence of forced entry.

Another employee also said her car was locked, but someone got in and took a $400 stereo.

Free Pizza?

A Ridgeline Court mom told police a man in a black pizza delivery truck tried to give her son a pizza Aug. 6.

A report said the boy was on Monterey Pine when the man stopped the truck and asked if he wanted a free pizza. The boy said no and the truck left.
