Driver of truck faces charges for crash, drugs, evidence tampering

A 39-year-old Brunswick man was injured in a collision with a pickup truck Sunday morning.

The driver of the truck faces drug charges in addition to offenses relating to the crash.

A spokeswoman at Southwest General Health Center said the motorcyclist was no longer a patient and could not release information about his status or injuries.

Police said the victim was heading west on Boston Road about 8:45 a.m. when the driver of the pickup, headed east on Boston, turned left onto Howe Road in front of him.

Detective Lt. John Janowski said charges are pending against the pickup driver, 26, of Brunswick, regarding the crash.

But he said the driver will also be charged with drug possession and tampering with evidence.  A witness saw him get out of his truck after the collision, carry something into the nearby woods and come back without it. 

The witness reported that to police, who found marijuana in the woods, Janowski said.
