Police Blotter: Bad News for the Band; Bottle Bombs

A garage band on Bowman Drive got some bad news from police after another noise complaint Sept. 6 -- no more garage practices.

A resident complained about 9:30 p.m. that the band practices -- loudly -- every Thursday night.

Police found the music was, in fact, loud and spoke with the homeowner, telling him that while years ago it wasn't a problem to play there, now that the area has been developed, it is.

The officer told him to either find a new place to practice or break up the band.

No One Home But the Dog

Police were called to a house on Weston Pointe about a barking dog about 12:41 a.m. Sept. 3 and found an unusual situation.

No one answered when the officer knocked, even though the lights and a TV were on. 

The officer found the back door and the windows open. He checked the house to make sure no one was injured and unable to get to the door, but found no one home.

The officer locked the doors and windows and left through the garage.

Bottle Bombs

A Bears Paw Lane resident found some bottle bombs had exploded in his yard the night of Sept. 2.

They did no damage.

Suspicious Panhandler

A man approached a woman outside  about 1:30 p.m. Sept. 3 and asked her for money, then wanted her to follow him to his car, which he said had broken down.

When she declined, he walked into , a report said.

The man was white and wearing a gray sleeveless shirt and khaki shorts.

Prayer Interrupted

A woman was praying at  about 8 p.m. Sept. 3 when the fire alarms went off.

Firefighters couldn't find any smoke, but traced the problem to an air conditioning unit, then reset the system.
