Police Blotter: Man Offers Candy to Kids; Guy Yells to Himself

Two residents on Oxford Drive called police Sept 23 about a man who gives neighborhood children candy and money.

One woman reported about 6:30 p.m. that the man had stopped his car and was talking to some kids.

She was afraid one of the girls was going to get in his car, so she walked outside and the man left.

About 10 minutes later, another woman complained about the same man, who she said lives in the neighborhood and frequently waits in his car for kids and gives them money and candy.

Police spoke with the man, who admitted to giving kids candy and said he was just being friendly. The man appeared to have a disability, the report said.

Officers told the man he should not be talking to children and he agreed to stop.

Same To You

Employees at BP on Royalton Road called police about 5:30 p.m. Sept. 23 about a man who was in the restroom screaming and talking to himself.

He had been there a while and it was disturbing the clerks and customers, a report said.

Police found the man was not intoxicated and had calmed down. He had been on the phone, arguing with someone.

Sidewalk Snoozin'

A man was found sleeping in a yard on Oxford Drive about 6 a.m. Sept. 21.

Officers woke the man, cited him for disorderly conduct, and took him home to Cherry Tree Drive.

Gooey Mischief

Residents of Jonathan Drive reported something sprayed on their van and driveway the night of Sept. 22.

Police said it appeared the liquid was chocolate syrup.

Gunfire?

A Little Brook Way resident told police she heard a loud boom about 3 a.m. Sept. 21, and later in the day found a shotgun shell in her yard.

Police said it appeared the shell had been there for several months and had never been fired. The officer disposed of it.

Purse and Pants Found

A resident found a woman's purse and a pair of black pants in the area of Webster Road and Forest Park Drive Sept. 23.

There was no identification in the Vera Bradley purse.

The woman asked if she could keep the purse; officers said she could for now, unless the owner is found.
