Police Blotter: Man with Troublesome Past is Back in Town

An employee at the called police about 1 p.m. Friday to report a man who was acting suspiciously and had followed a patron in the parking lot.

Officers confirmed the man was, in fact, suspicious -- he has an extensive history with Strongsville police from the 1980s and '90s, including burglary, trespassing and voyeurism.

He is also wanted for burglary in Georgia, but the state won't extradite, a report said.

The man told police he had just arrived in town that day, was transient and trying to get to Vermilion. 

He was carrying a lot of cash, the report said, but nothing illegal.

Not So Suspicious

Police were called to shortly before 1 p.m. Friday about a man hiding in the bushes in the island between and .

Officers questioned the man, who said he works at Giant Eagle and was waiting for his girlfriend.

He was standing there because it was shady, a report said. Officers advised him it looked suspicious, so he said he wouldn't stand there again.

House Egged. And Egged. And Egged

Someone is pelting a Raccoon Trail house with eggs every weekend, police said.

The resident said the house was egged several times last weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and reported this Saturday morning it had happened again.

An ex-girlfriend could be the culprit, a report said.

Faster than a Speeding Segway

A resident on Westwood Drive reported a man on a Segway with a flashing red light had been speeding through the area.

The report came in about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Police couldn't find the speeder.

Not Jones?

A 17-year-old tried to outwit an officer who offered to drive him home about 5 a.m. Sunday.

The teen told officers his last name was Jones and he lived on Stoughton, but didn't know the address. He then pointed out a house, but the officer checked it out and found the house belonged to people with a different name.

The officer took the teen to the police station, where the boy gave police another name and address.

Both were also false, a report said. The youth, who actually lives on Holly Circle, could face falsification charges.
