Police Blotter: Mischief Leads to Case of Mistaken Identity; Hot Couple Cools Off

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A newspaper carrier called police about 4 a.m. July 3 after a woman followed her down Crystal Creek Drive, yelling at her.

By the time police arrived, the situation had been resolved.

Here's what happened: A Winding Trail family got home from the movies about 2:30 a.m. to find toilet paper and about 20 security signs in their yard.

They finished cleaning it up, then saw kids out and ran after them. They saw the carrier driving around and assumed she was there to pick up the kids.

When she explained she was delivering newspapers, they apologized and went home.

Police said the Winding Trail home was the only one targeted that night.

Cooling Off

Police were asked to look into a situation on Sprague Road when a witness saw a man get out of a car and chase a woman.

Police tracked down the couple, who said they were arguing in the car and got out to continue the argument under a shade tree.

They were advised to argue somewhere other than a public place.

Litterbird

Witnesses complained about a woman in a truck throwing litter all over a parking lot on Pearl Road July 3.

The woman told polcie she wasn't throwing garbage -- she was throwing bread for the birds.

Suspicious Situation

Someone has been removing window screens from a house on Craig Drive over the last few days, a report said.

The screens were not jarred loose by the wind because they were placed neatly near the windows.

The resident also said she believes she heard the garage door open at night.

Mischief

Kids rang the doorbell and threw a smoke bomb at a Saratoga Trail house about 1:20 a.m. July 5.

The resident saw two boys ring the bell and then set off the smoke bomb, then run.
