Police Blotter: Woman Finds Bottle of 'Drugs;' Knife in Movie Theater

An Atlantic Road woman called police Dec. 24 after arriving home to find her house a mess and a vial of a substance she wanted the department to analyze.

The vial of alleged drugs was an unopened bottle of beer, a report said.

She complained to the officers that her husband trashes the house. The officers tol her it's his house, too.

No Weapons at the Theater 

Police were called to escort a man out of Cinemark Strongsville on Christmas night after he was found with a knife.

A report said the man had received a pocket knife for Christmas and was showing it to a friend at the movies, which caused a disturbance.

Police briefly confiscated the knife and returned it to the man when he was in his vehicle.

Flying Snow

Police got two reports of kids throwing snowballs at passing cars the evening of Dec. 26 -- one on Huntington Park and the other on Fair Road.

In both cases, officers found the kids and told them to stop.

Christmas Stealing

A man grabbed a gold necklace at Sheiban Jewelers Dec. 24 and ran out the door, a report said.

He was described as scrawny and wearing a black hat and shirt.

Suspicious Situation

A woman called police from Convenience Mart Store on Sprague Road Christmas night, crying and saying a man drove off with her 2-year-old child.

A clerk at the store said the man and woman had come in together. The woman gave police the man's name, but she was also gone when they arrived at the store.

The next day, the woman's purse was found in the parking lot. When officers called her, she said her boyfriend -- the same man who had driven off with her child the night before -- would be in to pick it up.

Mischief

Residents on Winding Trail complained about kids running around, banging on doors and windows shortly before 1 a.m. Dec. 27.

Officers couldn't find anyone out and about.

Hunting?

A Westwood Drive man found a blood trail from his yard into the woods on Christmas.

Police followed the blood, but couldn't tell where the deer went.

Christmas Spirit

Employees at Longhorn Steakhouse called for help after a blind customer missed his bus home on Christmas Eve.

The business was closing, and offered to call a cab for the man, but he was determined to find an RTA bus.

Police gave the man a ride home to Parma.
