Police Blotter: Woman Says She Left Baby at Walmart

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A woman called at 2:30 a.m. Dec. 18 and said she had just arrived home and realized she left her baby at the store.

The Walmart manager called police, who did a quick check of other area Walmarts and police departments to see if anyone reported a missing or found child.

The woman did not leave her name or phone number. She told the manager she made a police report and the police told her to call the store.

A Strongsville officer and the store manager went through the previous two hours of surveillance video and did not see a child go in or out of the store.

Detective Lt. John Janowski said there have been similar calls to other Walmarts in the past about leaving babies behind. He said he believes the hoax also surfaced last year at this time.

Mickey is a Victim

A Woodrun Drive resident report Mickey and Minnie Mouse Christmas decorations stolen from the front yard.

The report came in about 9:45 p.m. Dec. 16.

Parking Lot Humbug

Police had to get involved in a parking lot altercation outside about 1:40 p.m. Dec. 18 after a driver said he was nose-to-nose with one car and blocked in behind by another one.

Officers intervened, telling each to go find other parking spots.

The man who called went to another lot entirely because he didn't want the other guy to see where he parked.

Trespassing on Jonathan

Three kids were nabbed in a vacant house on Jonathan Drive Dec. 18 after a neighbor saw them go in.

The three boys, aged 15 and 16, were released to their parents. Police secured the house.

Gun Fired?

A man reported hearing what he thought was a gunshot near the football field at Strongsville High School about 4:15 p.m. Dec. 18.

Police couldn't find anyone in the area.

Gun Talk

A neighbor called police after hearing someone a woman crying in another Pearl Road apartment and some guys talking about guns.

Police spoke with a woman at the unit, who said she was cleaning up from a party she had hosted. They advised her of the complaint.
