Police Get 2 Unusual Requests, But Help Out Anyway

Callers want officers to open gate for deer, get car out of snow

Strongsville police got a couple of unusual requests over the weekend that were a little out of the line of duty, but tried to help nonetheless.

On Saturday, Lunn Road woman asked for help about 3:30 a.m. after her daughter got her car stuck in a snowdrift trying to back out of the driveway.

A dispatcher said police could help call a tow truck, but an officer stopped by anyway. He was able to steer the vehicle out of the drift.

On Sunday, a Stag Thicket Lane woman reported about 10 a.m. that a deer jumped the fence in her back yard and spent the next three hours pacing back and forth, unable to figure out how to get back out.

She asked police to come open the gate so the deer could get out.

She said she was couldn't open the gate because she was afraid the deer would come after her.

An officer went to the house, but the deer had apparently already figured out how to get out because he was gone.
