Needed: New Hiding Place

Witnesses called police June 19 after they saw a man pull behind Monster Mini Golf, 17900 Pearl Rd., lift up a plate on a lightpost and put a film container underneath.

In the canister, police found a miniature tablet with writing on it. A report said officers could not decipher the writing, but it includes the words "new log," as well as dates and names.

Thefts at the Village

Over the last few weeks, some flags at the Historic Village on Pearl Road have been stolen, a report said.

In addition, someone took a copper sundial from one of the gardens.

Where There's Smoke

A burning smell took police to Westwood Drive about 10:30 p.m. June 18, where it appeared something might be on fire at a business.

Several police officers and the fire department responded, but eventually determined a business was not on fire -- some residents near the park had a campfire.

Police spoke with the resident, who extinguished the blaze.

Slowpoke on the Road

A large turtle was reported in the roadway at Webster and Sprague roads about 9:30 p.m. June 18, with several people trying to move it along.

The turtle made it successfully to the creek, the report said.

Truck Vandalism

A resident of Acacia Drive reported someone threw a brick through the window of his truck about 2:20 a.m. June 19.

He said he did not see the incident, but heard it.
