Strongsville Police Blotter: Man Sprawled on Sidewalk has a Good Reason

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

Police were called to Cook Avenue about 4:50 a.m. July 6 after someone spotted a man lying across the sidewalk.

Officers roused the man and identified him as a Royalton Road resident who was highly intoxicated.

"(He) states he decided to nap on his way walking home from a friend's house," the report says.

Police took him home, but advised him that if he is found in that condition again, he would go to jail.

Residents on Walnut Drive who complained about kids knocking down mailboxes July 5 called back 48 hours later to say they had apprehended two youngsters in the act.

The boys' parents were called and agreed to pay for the damage.

More Mischief on Walnut

A Walnut Drive resident complained July 6 that someone took two plastic chairs from her porch and put them on top of her car during the night.

She said her car has also been keyed twice in the last three weeks.

Suspicious Visitors

A Ridge Creek Road man got concerned when a man started banging on his from door about 2:50 p.m. July 6. The man eventually left.

The resident called back at 5:50 p.m. saying there were now two people pounding on the door.

He called back to cancel, saying it was his neighbor.

And More Mischief

• Vandals overturned garbage cans and threw chairs and picnic tables into the neighborhood pool on Waterford Parkway the night of July 6.

Swim coaches said it is an ongoing problem.

• Someone egged a car and wrapped it in toilet paper on Cypress Avenue the same night. Two teenagers live at the house.

• A mailbox on Winding Trail was knocked over between 3 and 6 a.m. July 5.  The residents said their mailbox was destroyed earlier this year.

• Someone dragged a large net onto the street on Waterford Parkway July 5.

Theft from Auto

A wallet and iPod were taken from a car parked n a Kylemore Drive driveway the night of July 4.

Party in a Vacant House

A neighbor noticed all the lights on in a vacant house on Blazey Trail, and the door wide open.

Police said it appears kids were inside, but were gone when they got there.
