Strongsville Police Blotter: Man Watching From Parking Lot Worries Bank Officials

Also, car rolls off on its own and drunken men try to stiff cabbie on fare in reports from March 10-13

Employees at , 14569 Pearl Rd., alerted police March 12 after noticing a man watching their opening and closing procedures every day.

A manager told officers a man sits in the parking lot after hours every day.

Police were already aware -- they said the man is homeless and has been living in his truck. Bank management said they did not want him in their parking lot.

• An officer driving down Webster Road about 9:30 a.m. March 12 watched as a car rolled into the street -- without a driver. The officer went to the door to alert the owner, who said the vehicle had been parked at the end of the driveway and must have slid into the road due to the icy conditions.

• A woman suspected of child enticement made the investigation a lot easier when she showed up at the police station. Police received a report from a parent whose 14-year-old daughter was walking home from school March 11 on Royalton Road at Settlers Way when a woman stopped her car and asked for directions. The mom said when the woman saw her coming, she took off.

The driver's next stop, though, was the police station. As police checked the area for her car, the woman went to the police station to ask for directions to an estate sale on Berkshire Circle. She got the directions and went on her way.

• Employees at , 17887 Southpark Center, found blank checks strewn around the parking lot March 13. They recovered one, but said customers were also picking them up and leaving with them. Police contacted the owner and are investigating.

• A man driving without headlights on Pearl Road about 12:30 a.m. March 11 pulled over when directed to by police, then rolled down his window and started putting his belongings on the roof of his car. The report said he was warned for the headlights and told not to put things on the car roof because it is weird.

• A disturbance brought police to the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center March 11 after one youth said several Arabic males were trying to jump him. Officers escorted the victim out and said the suspects continued to taunt him, even with police present. The mother of two of the boys said the incident was deeply rooted in family problems. They were warned not to return to the rec center.

• Employees at Trivs, 17100 Royalton Rd., called police after a man came in March 12, ordered a beer, paid, but didn't drink it. They said the man was wearing a jacket with the hood up and hiding behind a sign he had made. He sat at the bar for awhile and then left. Police later saw the man's car in his garage.

• Three men took a cab to the Polo Club apartments about 4:45 a.m. March 13 and went inside without paying their $40 fare. Police found all three were highly intoxicated. Two agreed to go to an ATM with the cab driver to get money to pay him.

• It's not quite spring yet, but the mischief has started. An Old Oak Drive resident reported kids toilet papered her trees March 13.
