Strongsville Police Blotter: Woman Goes to Police Over Mean Facebook Comments

Reports from Feb. 18-20

A Greenwood Drive woman called police Feb. 19 because she didn't like the things her ex-boyfriend posted about her on Facebook.

A report said the comments were not threatening in nature, but the woman said she was afraid.

Police checked the comments and determined they were opinions, not threats, but spoke with the ex-boyfriend as a courtesy. He told officers he had already deleted the comments.

• Police chased a suspected shoplifter all the way into Cleveland Feb. 19 after he fled from Westfield SouthPark and refused to stop when an officer tried to pull his truck over.

A report said the man took an electric razor and ran fromSears, jumping into a black truck and heading toward I-71. A police officer spotted the truck and tried to stop the driver, but he took off north on I-71, reaching speeds of 90 mph as he drove through Middleburg Heights and into Cleveland.

The report said traffic was light about 7:40 p.m. as the chase took place. Police got the driver to stop about 8 p.m. as he exited on West Boulevard. He was arrested for fleeing and eluding; the razor was returned to Sears.

• A suspicious man was reported on Walnut Creek Drive Feb. 20. A witness said he was wearing black-rimmed glasses and a ski cap, driving a black hatchback car with an unusual antenna about 11:40 a.m.  He was stopping, looking at houses and talking on a walkie-talkie, the report said. Police are investigating.

• Police cleared up the mystery of a man with dreadlocks who walks up and down Golden Star Drive  occasionally. A report said the man visits his aunt and uncle there. He listens to music and bobs his head as he walks. 

• A Forestview Drive lawn was turfed the night of Feb. 19. A neighbor's car came under brief suspicion because it was covered in mud, but police determined the damage was done by a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

• Passersby thought a driver on Pearl Road Feb. 20 may have been impaired because his car was traveling all over the road, going left of center and bouncing off the curb.

However, when the driver turned into the driveway and stopped, police determined he had accidentally turned on the air conditioner instead of the defogger and could not see out his windows.

• Employees at the became concerned enough to call the police Feb. 18 when a mother failed to pick up her two 7-year-old girls when their class ended. The employees called the woman, who said she was at the mall and didn't know when she would get there.

If her kids became a problem, rec employees should put them by the door, she said.

Police spoke with the woman, who said she lost her car at the mall. She arrived and picked up the girls.
